Why You Should Consider Upgrading To The NEW Osmo Action 4!
Andy Hayes

The latest and highly anticipated action camera, the Osmo Action 4 has now been released! As technology enthusiasts eagerly await the chance to explore its capabilities, many are naturally curious about how this cutting-edge device stacks up against its predecessor, the Osmo Action 3, which was released just a year ago. Today, we will tell you why it's worth upgrading to the newer model or if you are yet to own an Osmo Action camera why you should consider the Osmo Action 4!

Better Waterproofing

Regarding the physical designs of the two action cameras, the DJI Osmo Action 4 and the Osmo Action 3 exhibit significant similarities. Both cameras have dimensions of 70.5 × 44.2 × 32.8mm, weigh 145g, and feature a dual-screen design. However, there is a notable difference between them in terms of waterproofing.

The Osmo Action 3 is capable of remaining waterproof up to 16m without requiring an external case. In contrast, the Osmo Action 4 can withstand water depths of up to 18m without the need for a case. Moreover, both cameras have the capability to reach a depth of 60m when utilised with DJI's Waterproof Case.

Improved Stabilisation

Both cameras utilise DJI's RockSteady 3.0 stabilisation, incorporating features like HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady for horizontal shooting. Nevertheless, the Osmo Action 4 stands apart by offering the enhanced RockSteady 3.0+ stabilisation.

Larger Memory Cards

Regarding storage capacity, the DJI Osmo Action 4 surpasses the Osmo Action 3 in its ability to accommodate larger files, as well as a greater number of stills and videos.

The Osmo Action 4 achieves this advantage by supporting microSD cards with a capacity of up to 512GB, whereas the Osmo Action 3 is limited to microSD cards of up to 256GB in size.

The Verdict

The Osmo Action 4 is a great new addition to the Osmo Action collection. As expected though, the DJI Osmo Action 4 comes with a higher price tag at its initial release compared to its predecessor. The Standard Combo for the Osmo Action 4 is priced at £379, and the Adventure Combo, which includes additional batteries and accessories, will cost you £469.

For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Osmo Action 3 Standard Combo is currently available at £309, while the Adventure Combo is priced at £399. This presents a cost-saving opportunity of £70 for either package and is still a great option if you are looking to save a bit of cash.
